Pulled up at the garage early this morning to fuel up before heading to our 'away mission'. The little plastic hutches with the daily papers are in front of us and the best excuse for doing anything bad, and probably the 3rd best 'Sun' headline is staring at me.
'Hitler made me do it'
I waited 'til it was a reasonable time to text a couple of pals:
"Already seen it. It used to be the Devil when we was kids"
We've got a comedian on at our place tonight. Apparently he's got some mad stalker bloke who's threatend to kill him. A picture has been circulated amongst all the crew and the security are having a great time being all extra secure and gossiping worse than old women about the 'situation'.
So we might have a bit of excitement tonight. Probably not though.
Normally I don't go recommending music, but... Yes it must have been obvious that I was going to use the word 'but' there. May I suggest you check out a band called '65 Days of Static'.
I heard them by accident at work the other night. I say by accident, as I wasn't originally meant to be working the show. I was doing a another job elsewhere in the building and due to an administrative error, ended up being in the right place at the right time to catch the show (and do the load out).
I get to hear a lot of music at work, most of which washes over me, through me and then thankfully goes away again. This is because the majority of music is just a big noisy waste of electricity and the only thing it's good for is feeding me and keeping a roof over my head. Occasionally though, something catches my ear. I wonder into the venue and have a listen.
The big plus about the band, in my book, is that nearly all the tunes they played were instrumental. The complete absence of a wailing, warbling, posing fop standing at the front of the stage is a great addition to any band.
So there's a link to their Myspace up there. A link to their website here and another Link to Last Fm with some more of their tunes. Rather than me trying to describe music in words, click the links and have a listen for yourself. All I will say though is what my Co-worker said about them:
"They were pretty good, they're one of those bands that know the black notes exist, what they're for, and use them."
...or the technology to carry it about in their pocket. I had 20 minutes of my life stolen yesterday. Watching supposedly 'funny' videos that a work mate had uploaded onto his phone. If it wasn't rude to tell him to stop and put the phone away I'd have done it.
...is a bit like Twitter, you know a way to message (irritate?) a whole bunch of people via either IM, SMS, or the web interface. If you listen to all the Web 2.0 twaddle it's the way forward.
I quite like the occasional bleeps of my Twitter contacts letting me know what they up to and assume they don't mind my occasional Tweets (as they're called)
Spending far too much time on the interwebs and being the sort of person that will sign up for most free things, I've gone and got a account as well as my Twitter account. Twitter can just be signed up for, whilst at the moment you need an invite for Jaiku. I've got some Jaiku invites, if anyone wants one, drop my a message with an e-mail I can send it to. First come first served.
...or Something to break the silence for Jando Or Ask the Monkey Boy to dance and he dances.
I've come across a thing called Bit Strips. whilst reading the Laughing Squid blog. It's an online comic maker.
It allows you to design, colour and pose characters that you can use in your own comic strips. Obviously I'm no James Turner when it comes to great ideas, and all the comics will tend towards a similar style as they rely on a limited number of drawings you get to customise. I don't think they'll beat anything drawn by 'proper' artists. For a bit of fun though, or maybe used to blog what you did with your day. I reckon it's OK.
I'm sure some clever person could work out a way to use it to advertise her Etsy shop.
If you're really bothered you can see more of my crap here. I suggest you have a mooch around and see how people have been using it. There's some quite good stuff and you could use it as a way to make Avatars for the various websites your signed up for.
...Happy St Patrick's day.
To everyone else. Happy Guinness Marketing day.
